Certification Program

The UWA Aerospace Certification Program is designed to help members achieve their Level 1 and/or Level 2 Tripoli Rocketry Certification. With this certification, you gain the license to launch high-powered rockets with motors up to a specified size. The program centers around building your own rocket and successfully launching and recovering it on one of our scheduled launch days.

Launch Days

Organized by the Western Australia Rocketry Society (WARS), we hold approximately 10 launch days a year during the fire season (April-September). These launch days provide the only opportunity to launch rockets in WA. Participants take their rockets to these events and launch them under the guidance of our highly skilled and knowledgeable rocketry community.

Certification Process

To obtain certification, you must construct your own rocket and ensure it performs a successful launch and recovery during one of our launch days.

Craftsmanship

The highlight of our program is the hands-on experience. Participants get to create every aspect of their rockets, from rolling their fiberglass body tubes to using CAD for designing and laser cutting fins. You have control over the dimensions and specifications of your rocket.

Building and Painting

Experience the satisfaction of sanding and spray painting your rocket to perfection. Every step of the construction process contributes to your understanding of rocketry principles.

Community Engagement

By attending launch days, participants are immersed in the expertise and knowledge of the rocketry community. You'll gain insights into the intricacies of launching rockets and learn from experienced enthusiasts.

Rewarding Experience

Building and launching your own rocket is an immensely rewarding experience. Completing the certification program not only equips you with the necessary skills but also instills a sense of accomplishment and pride.
